چکیده

Rodents post-weaning isolation could be considered a significant early-life model of chronic stress. The aim our study was to investigate the effects female rats on different behavioral tests and neurochemical parameters. On postnatal day 21, pups were housed either isolated or socially in groups (4/cage) for 6 weeks. After 6th week adult behaviorally examined using open field test, three chamber social interaction hole board test condition avoidance test. In addition, hippocampal content neurotransmitters, oxidative stress inflammatory markers measured. Isolated exhibited changes, shows increase anxiety decrease locomotor activity comparison control group . Moreover, promoted sociality index as compared groups. Finally, invoked impairment long-term short-term memory evaluated by both conditioned tests, group. Furthermore, post- weaning induced stress, inflammation, neurotransmitter alterations. Collectively post had significantly prompted changes which represent essential important symptoms schizophrenia.

Effects of Gladiolus dalenii on the Stress-Induced Behavioral, Neurochemical, and Reproductive Changes in Rats

Gladiolus dalenii is a plant commonly used in many regions of Cameroon as a cure for various diseases like headaches, epilepsy, schizophrenia, and mood disorders. Recent studies have revealed that the aqueous extract of G. dalenii (AEGD) exhibited antidepressant-like properties in rats. Therefore, we hypothesized that the AEGD could protect from the stress-induced behavioral, neurochemical, and...

Effects of resocialization on post-weaning social isolation-induced abnormal aggression and social deficits in rats.

As previously shown, rats isolated from weaning develop abnormal social and aggressive behavior characterized by biting attacks targeting vulnerable body parts of opponents, reduced attack signaling, and increased defensive behavior despite increased attack counts. Here we studied whether this form of violent aggression could be reversed by resocialization in adulthood. During the first weak of...

Routine post-weaning handling of rats prevents isolation rearing-induced deficit in prepulse inhibition.

Rats reared under isolation conditions from weaning present a number of behavioral changes compared to animals reared under social conditions (group housing). These changes include deficits in prepulse inhibition (PPI) of the startle reflex to a loud sound. PPI refers to the reduction of the magnitude of the startle reflex when a relatively weak stimulus (the prepulse) precedes by an appropriat...

Antibiotic Treatment Attenuates Behavioral and Neurochemical Changes Induced by Exposure of Rats to Group A Streptococcal Antigen

Post-streptococcal A (GAS) sequelae including movement and neuropsychiatric disorders have been associated with improvement in response to antibiotic therapy. Besides eradication of infection, the underlying basis of attenuation of neuropsychiatric symptoms following antibiotic treatment is not known. The aim of the present study was to test the efficacy of antibiotic treatment in a rat model o...
